Jill, who suited up and fenced sabre for the first time, describes her Olympic day experience and shows off her wounds here: http://www.divaplatform.com/?p=1136 |

June 23, 2009 was Chicago Olympic Day, and the Chicago Fencing Club was there representing the city and the sport. We did a fine job with the demonstrations, and no one went down due to heat exhaustion, which was a victory in itself. Thanks to Tony, Dakota, and Colton for bringing the electric gear, making it work and for fencing. Thanks to Karin, Jen, Steve, Homero, and Charlie for demonstrating fencing and working the crowd. And last, but not least, special thanks to Jill for suiting up and fencing sabre for first time -- and for fencing for the first time in about eight years. She donated blood, sweat, and tears to the cause. Saundra Karol (http://www.karolphoto.com ) took pictures, and we will post them soon. |
