We at Chicago Fencing Club believe that a commitment to a lifetime of sport encourages a healthy lifestyle.  To that end, each of our programs focuses more on enjoyment of the sport and personal development.  We believe that a person who fences with passion and enjoys the process of learning will produce competitive results as a matter of development.

Youth Programs:

Youth -12:

Ages 8 - 12.  Practices are Mondays, 6 - 7 pm.  This hour-long practice teaches the basics of the sport and prepares students for a lifetime of enjoyment.  After a foundational instruction period, students are allowed to explore their options through the different weapons. 

Cadet (Under - 17):

Ages 13 - 17.  Practices are Wednesdays, 6 - 7 pm.  Instruction is available in all weapons with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment before competition.  Fencers are given the opportunity to improve their basic skills and with coach permission, to attend the evening Adult practices for more individualized instruction and intense practices.  Fencers looking to explore competitions are encouraged to explore the Pre-/Competitive Program and discuss such intentions with their coach.

The cost for both age groups is $80 for the first month (this includes a glove and plastron) and $50 for consecutive months.  Please note that it is CFC policy that students must be 8 years of age or older to participate.

Adult Programs:

Introduction:

There are regularly scheduled Intro classes offered throughout the year.  The cost for this program is $150 for an eight-week class (one class/week).  This cost includes equipment rental and a glove and underarm protector for each student.  Each student is required only to wear loose clothes (sweat/wind pants and t-shirts) and athletic shoes.

• Basic Defenses
• Basic Tactics

Recreational Fencing:

This program is designed with the casual fencer in mind.  Included in this program are 2 practices/week, footwork lessons and open fencing.  Lessons, group classes, coaching at competitions and conditioning practices are all available based on coaches’ availability. 

This program is available for $40/month or $400/year. 

Floor fees are $10 per night for visiting fencers.
