Referee Development

The scheduled clinic and test for September 15 & 16 have been confirmed as of this morning.  To that end, the scheduled study session will be rescheduled for August 21 and there will be a second one on September 11 (the week before the test).  All interested fencers should talk to Clint or Robyn about the written exam.

The clinic cost will be $75, and Saturday - 9/15 will go from 9 - 5 with a working lunch.  Sunday, 9/16, the test will happen at 8am and those who pass will be tested practically during the competition.

Update: Fixed the August date.  It's actually on Tuesday, the 21st, not Monday the 20th.

Last week was the USFA Summer Nationals.

Division 2 Men's Saber:

 Clint - 36/110

This week starts the Thursday practices (tomorrow!).

Tuesdays will resume next week - July 17.  Good news and bad news about them, see the forums for more details.

We will have a referee study session on July 31.  Everyone should have the most recent study guide from the Fencing Officials site and a copy of the rulebook.  We'll begin to answer those questions in preparation for the written test.

NAC E - March Div 2/3/Vet/Wheelchair has been announced to be held in Chicago (Rosemont)!  We will be adding this event to the club competitive schedule.

Weekly Update - 6/18/07

There will be no Tuesday practice this week.  Next Tuesday's practice will be happen, then due to Summer Nationals, there will be no practice until July 17th.

Robyn will not be in on Wednesday; Clint will cover the Intro class.  There will be a "make-up" class on Monday, June 25th for anyone who has missed a class so far.  Wednesday, June 27, will mark the last Intro class until September.

For those who missed the class, but want to try the game - we will have an "Open House" on Wednesdays this summer.  The cost is $20 - you will get an Intro lesson, free fencing for the evening and all required equipment.  Bring some friends and find out what makes fencing so interesting!  That will start July 11th.

Starting July 12th, Chicago Fencing Club will add Thursdays to the practice schedule at the Parkview Church and School - 7 - 9:30.

All CFC members interested in competition next season should speak with a coach regarding summer training and goal setting.
